I have an old Palm m500 that does not seem to work, but I want to find out what the problem is, and if it is fixable. If you are any bit "techie" or "mechanically minded", perhaps you could help solve my problem.

Description: I have an older Palm m500 (more info) that did not work. I got it as a gift and it was apparently sitting idle for 3 years. Right now, I do not have screws to open the back and look inside at the battery. I will be giving it to a friend tomorrow who has a smart dad for the star-like screwdriver. What happens is, when I put it on the charging dock, it will not turn on or do anything on the screen at all. When I take it off, the little power button glows green and still nothing happens on screen. The light has never changed color or blinked ever before. All I have is the charge dock, Palm power adapter, and USB cable. I just want to see if this can be fixed before buying a new one on e-bay. I have been performing extensive research on the unit over the past 3 days. Apparently, there is an identical unit called the IBM workstation c500. The only difference in these two units, is that, (a) the c500 has the name IBM on it, and (b) they are different colors. Other than that, or so I am told, they are identical. If anyone can tell me what is wrong, or offer a diagnosis, or even knows someone who could help me, please post in this thread or send me a Personal Message. If you have an extra battery, accessory, or something, tell me also.

There is a link labeled "more info" in the starter post in this thread. I can't remember the link offhand. Just click that.

UPDATE!

I got it open. My friend's dad had the proper torx screwdriver to get them out. Later at school, we found a website telling about undoing the rest of the clips. We opened it up, and found that the battery was damaged. We bought one on e-bay, but some payment issues have delayed shipping. If you own one, tell us about it! They are pretty cool.
